MONTREAL, Que. - Attending the Montreal Cup, the Durham College women's volleyball split their opening day by falling in straight sets to the Andre-Laurendau Boomerang, before topping the Lionel-Groulx Nordiques in an exciting five-set contest.
Set scores for Game 1 were 21-25, 20-25, 20-25. Durham rebounded in Game 2 with set scores in the victory 16-25, 25-15, 25-18, 22-25, 16-14.
A pair of first-year Lords earned player of the match honours in the two contests as incoming outside hitter
Haley Bickell (Winnipeg, Man.) impressed in Game 1 of the day, while fellow out-of-province rookie
Tiana Cowper (Calgary Alta.) earned the honour in Game 2.
Tomorrow DC is scheduled to have two more matches, facing the Bois-de-Boulogne Cavaliers and Edouard-Montpetit Lynx.
