NORTH BAY, ON - Traveling to North Bay, the Durham College women's volleyball team began their preseason schedule with four matches over three days this past weekend, splitting the weekend series 2-2.

Opening the weekend against OUA opponents in the Nipissing Lakers, Durham fell 3-1 in their first action of the new season. Set scores for the match were 18-25, 22-25, 22-25, 25-15.

The Lords then followed that up with a Saturday morning meetings with fellow OCAA competitors Humber and Canadore. In their first match of the day, DC dropped four straight sets to the Hawks, who are always near the top of the OCAA standings each year. Set scores for the Saturday morning contest were 11-25, 19-25, 12-25, 19-25. Durham bounced back in their second match of the day versus OCAA East rival Panthers. The Lords knocked off the weekend host 3-1 with set scores of 17-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-18.

Heading into the final day of the weekend, Durham once again played the Panthers. This time the two teams went to a fifth and deciding set in an exciting exhibition showdown of which the Lords came out on top. Set scores for the final match of the weekend were 25-21, 25-10,14-25, 18-25, 16-14.

The Lords will next welcome the Trent Excalibur to the CRWC for a home preseason contest this Thursday, Oct. 28. In a doubleheader with the men's teams, the women have first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
