Box Score TORONTO, ON – The Durham Lords women's volleyball team earned their second win of the season at George Brown in four sets on Tuesday evening.
It was a tightly contested first set but the Lords pulled away late in the frame. With an 18-16 lead, Durham went on a 7-3 run to steal the first set on the road. The George Brown Huskies handed Durham their first set loss of the season, taking the second set 25-17.
With the score line showing a tie at 23 in the third set, the Lords scored two straight points to take the third 25-23. The hosts fought hard in the fourth set, but Durham was too strong as Jessica Joensen (Brooklin, ON) put the match away with her sixth kill of the night to take it 25-19.
Mia Hildebrandt (Winnipeg, MB) led the way for the Lords in their first road win of the season with 13 kills on 25 total attempts and a pair of service aces. Amanda Larsen (Toronto, ON) was a force at the net, recording four blocked shots and eight kills of her own.
Aislinn Pedersen (Hamilton, ON), Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) and Devyn Fraser (Uxbridge, ON) each grabbed five digs while Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) led the squad in assists with 16.
The Lords return home for a three match homestand, beginning with a meeting against the Fleming Knights on Thursday, November 3 at 6:00 PM.
