Box Score OSHAWA, ON – Capping off a perfect weekend, the Durham Lords battled their way to their largest win of the season in a 9-0 win over the Sault Cougars.
Jaime Pye (Oshawa, ON) scored just over a minute into the match and added her second goal of the game moments later to take an early 2-0 lead.
Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto, ON) extended the lead to three in the 7
th minute, and scored again nearly half an hour later to send her team into halftime up four goals. Shortly before the hour mark,
Stephanie Boivin (Bowmanville, ON) scored Durham's fifth of the game before
Jessica Ferreira (Ajax, ON) made it 6-0.
Brianna Kelly (Whitby, ON) became the fifth different goal scorer in the match to make it 7-0 Lords with three goals in under three minutes. Thomas-Roberts completed the hat trick moments later and
Sara Daley (Bowmanville, ON) finished things off in the final 10 minutes with the ninth goal of the game.
The Lords played hard all match, registering a total of 17 shots in the first half and 24 in the second half. 31 of 41 total shots in the match were on target.
Sault could not generate any offence on Sunday afternoon, generating zero shots and having zero corner kick opportunities.
Durham will go on the road for the next couple of matches, beginning with a trip to Kingston on Friday, September 23 to take on the St. Lawrence Surge. The Lords are back at Vaso's on Friday, September 30 to host the Fleming Knights.
