Box Score BELLEVILLE, ON – With a 6-0 win on the road against the Loyalist Lancers on Wednesday evening, the nationally ranked Durham Lords extend their undefeated streak to six matches.
Olivia Checchia (Bowmanville, ON) put the Lords on the board with an 8th minute goal on a pass from Erika Bjorgum (Kingman, AB), before doubling the lead in the 11th minute with her second goal of the match, assisted by Jaime Pye (Oshawa, ON).
Pye picked up her second assist of the evening in the 40th minute, contributing to Jessica Ferreira's third goal of the season. The Lords weren't done there, as Bjorgum scored 1:17 later to send Durham into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
The Lords came out of the locker room flying to begin the second half as Bjorgum put home her second goal of the game five minutes into the second half, assisted by Checchia. Pye would join the scoring party in the 62nd minute, taking a pass from Shelby Khan (Oakville, ON) and finding the back of the net to make it 6-0.
As the scoreline would suggest, Durham controlled the majority of play with a high level of possession. They showed a lot of chemistry in the match, completing 448 passes over 90 minutes.
"We moved the ball well and got the positive result we needed," said Head Coach Alex Bianchi. "Lots of possession and completed passes, but need to understand that the game is 90 minutes and not lose focus and get away from our style of play. But overall we're happy with the win."
The Lords will not have much time to rest as they're back on the pitch on Friday, hosting the Fleming Knights at Durham Field.
