Box Score OSHAWA, ON – Kicking off the first match in a two game road trip to end the regular season, the Durham Lords women's volleyball team swept the Canadore Panthers to earn their 16th win of the season and lock up the first seed in the OCAA's east division.
The first set was the closest of the bunch, with the Lords getting themselves warmed up in the first set with a 25-21 win.
Canadore found a high degree of difficulty in the next two sets as far as slowing a dominating Lords attack. Durham would go on to take the second set 25-13 before finishing the match in straight sets with a 25-12 third set victory.
Jessica Joensen (Brooklin, ON) stood out as the team leader in kills with seven on 21 total attempts. Joensen also led the team in digs with eight.
Mia Hildebrandt (Winnipeg, MB) and Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) smashed six kills each. Hildebrandt was also the team leader in service aces, accounting for five of Durham's eight on the night.
At the net, Amanda Larsen (Toronto, ON) blocked four shots while Stewart blocked two.
Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) finished the night with 28 assists through three sets in the sweep.
The Lords will head to Barrie on Saturday to put an end to the 2022-23 OCAA regular season schedule, facing the Georgian Grizzlies at 4:00 PM.
