PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Lords started the women's volleyball season off in incredibly strong fashion, sweeping the Fleming Phoenix on the road.
Durham made their way through the opening set quickly, winning 25-13 before Fleming battled back in the second for a closer affair. The Lords were first to 25 in a 25-18 win before dominating the opposition 25-8 in the final set to complete the sweep.
Newcomer Katherine Konkle recorded six kills in 10 total attempts, while Maxine Felsbourg finished with five kills on the night.
Erin Black and Brooke Young took over setting duties, with Black finishing the night with nine and Young registering seven.
Aislinn Pedersen was a force from the service line with three aces. Young also served two of her own aces.
At the net, Konkle made a statement with a ream-leading five blocks. Alisia Lush led the way in digs with seven.
Durham start the 2024-25 OCAA regular season with a three-game road trip and will head to Ottawa next weekend to complete it with matchups against the Algonquin Wolves on Friday, October 25, followed by a trip to La Cité the following day.
The Lords will host their home opener on Wednesday, October 30 against the George Brown Huskies at 6:00 PM.
