Thomas-Roberts moves into second place in DC all-time scoring

Box Score TORONTO – The Durham College women's soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over the George Brown Huskies on Saturday afternoon in Toronto.

Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto) led the way, scoring both goals for Durham. With these, the striker now ranks second in Durham College's all-time scoring list with 38 goals, trailing only Katie Watts (42).

Leading 1-0 and under pressure from George Brown late in the match, Alexis Bayley (Whitby, Ont.) sent a long ball to Thomas-Roberts, who weaved through the Huskies' defense to seal the win.

Injuries at the goalkeeper position have been a challenge for the Lords, with winger Keyara Lindell (Whitby, Ont.) stepping in. Lindell made 10 crucial saves, earning her second clean sheet of the season.

Final shots were 18-17 in favour of the Lords.

Durham is 2-3 on the year and sits in fifth place in the OCAA east region, three points ahead of George Brown (1-3), St. Lawrence (1-2) and Loyalist (1-5).

Next, the Lords will face the Fleming Knights in a weekday match on Wednesday night. Fleming has struggled this season, remaining winless in five matches and being outscored 2-29. Kick-off at Vaso's Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.
