Lords sign Brooklin High's Luke Bakker

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's baseball team is thrilled to welcome Luke Bakker as the newest addition to the Lords roster.

Hailing from Whitby, Ontario, Bakker will bring his talents to the Lords as a versatile player, primarily contributing as a right-handed pitcher, outfielder, and first baseman.

Standing tall at 6-foot-3, Bakker has a commanding presence on the field and will be a valuable asset to the Lords.

Bakker comes to Durham College with a wealth of experience, having played for various teams, including the Whitby Chiefs, Whitby Canadians, and Ontario Yankees. In addition, he was also part of the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association (EOBA) All-Stars in the Ontario Summer Games.

Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including MVP, Cy Young, and Silver Slugger honours for his performances with Whitby teams.

Bakker's impressive list of accomplishments, combined with his dedication and work ethic, make him a perfect fit for the Lords.

"I want to get into the trades, and Durham College offers a great program," Bakker said. "I've heard a lot about Durham's baseball team, and I'm excited to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to contributing to the team's success and growing as a player."

Head Coach Scott Cawker shares Bakker's enthusiasm, eagerly anticipating the impact he'll have on the team.

"Luke is a tremendous talent with a lot of potential," Cawker said. "He brings a unique skill set to our team, and I'm confident he will make a significant impact both on and off the field. We're thrilled to have him join the Lords family."

As Bakker embarks on his collegiate baseball journey, he will undoubtedly create new memories and experiences with the Lords. His impressive track record and dedication to the sport make him a valuable addition to the team.

Luke will be a Trades Fundamentals student at DC when the school year starts up again in September.
