OSHAWA, Ont. - Elizabeth McFarland of the women's volleyball team and Ryan McGilvray of the men's volleyball team have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending February 1, 2026.

McFarland, an Accounting - Business Transfer student, was consistent in two matches last week where she was the driving force offensively against Seneca and St. Lawrence. On Wednesday, McFarland recorded 12 kills and four solo blocks for a team-leading 16.0 points, along with five digs. In Kingston on Saturday, she tallied 12 kills on 20 total attempts, with a team-leading 15 digs, two solo blocks and a service ace for 15.0 points. With at least 15.0 points in each match, she registered her second and third highest scoring performances of the season.

McGilvray, a Carpentry and Renovation Technician student, was consistent and trustworthy through seven set appearances in two matches last week. At home against Seneca, McGilvray put up seven kills on 16 attempts with three solo blocks for 10.0 points against the top team in the OCAA's East Division. At St. Lawrence on Saturday, he led the team in points with 10.0 as the Lords won in straight sets. McGilvray recorded eight kills, a pair of service aces and two digs in the win.

The volleyball teams are back on the court on Wednesday, February 4 against the Loyalist Lancers in Belleville before closing out the regular season at home on Saturday, February 7 against the Fleming Phoenix.
