OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College men's baseball has added another promising piece to its future. The program is excited to welcome Liam Ward, a versatile outfielder and right-handed pitcher from Courtice to the Lords. Ward arrives with a strong amateur résumé and a clear desire to compete at the next level.
Standing 6-foot even, Ward offers flexibility on the diamond as both an outfielder and a pitcher.Â
His journey includes time with several respected programs in the region. Ward played with the Scarborough Stingers AAA from 2013 to 2021 before joining the Clarington Orioles, where he was part of the team that captured an Eastern Ontario Baseball Association (EOBA) championship in 2023-24. More recently, he suited up for the Oshawa Legionnaires in, earning team MVP honours in 2025 while hitting .389.
"Liam has been around successful programs throughout his baseball career, and that experience shows in the way he approaches the game," said Head Coach Scott Cawker. "He's a competitive player with a strong baseball IQ, and we think he'll fit in well with the culture we're continuing to build at Durham."
For Ward, the relationships and steady growth he's found through baseball stand out most. "Creating new friends and thriving in non-stop improvements" is how he sums up his favourite parts of the game.
With a competitive mindset and a history of contributing to winning clubs, Ward is eager to make his mark at Durham. He credits the coaching staff and the environment around the program as key factors in his decision and looks forward to continuing his development with the Lords.
Ward will join the Lords while pursuing studies in the Electrical Engineering Technician program.
The baseball season opens at Kinsmen Stadium on Saturday, September 5 with a doubleheader against the St. Clair Saints. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
