Laurence Bishop was born in Brockville, Ontario in 1968 and began his successful collegiate presence at Durham College in the fall of 1992.  The talented athlete was an impact player immediately for the Lords Men’s Volleyball Program after graduating from Brock University. He helped lead the Lords to an OCAA Division Championship in 1992-93 and then an OCAA Provincial Bronze Medal.  Bishop was named an OCAA Championship All-Star that same year.

After graduating from the Sports Administration post-grad program, he took over the Head Coaching job for the Lords Men’s Volleyball program and led the team to Nationally Ranked status each year.  He posted a stellar career record of 43W 15L .741 pct. in OCAA Conference play and 61W 23L overall.  Under his guidance the Lords captured their first ever OCAA Divison I  Men’s Volleyball Championship Gold medal in 1995-96 – the first in school history!  His teams were also OCAA Bronze Medalists twice and he was named OCAA Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1995-96.

Away from the gym in his role in DC Student Services, he was instrumental in developing the Durham College Intercollegiate-Academic-Athlete-Success Program (IAASP). A program which is still a foundation for Lords Athletics success today
